We Love Centurion
We will say it plainly: we love this city and the people in it. Not as a project or a target, but because Centurion is our home and these are our neighbours. We long to see God's goodness spill into every corner of it. Our prayer for this place is simple:
May God's Kingdom come here, in Centurion as in Heaven.
Long ago God told his people, living in a city that was not even their own, to seek its good and to pray for it. We take that to heart for the city that is ours.
Pursue the well-being of the city I have deported you to. Pray to the LORD on its behalf, for when it thrives, you will thrive.
Jeremiah 29:7 (CSB)
Right Here, Right Now
We serve the community within about five kilometres of Monavoni, the streets and families right on our doorstep.
- Christmas for local orphanages. Each year we partner with Heartbeat, the NPO of our local Community Policing Forum, to throw a Christmas party for children from nearby orphanages. The church helps fund the gifts and the party through our tithe to Heartbeat, the children gather together, and yes, our own pastor pulls on the Santa suit to hand them out.
- Showing up. We turn up at community events and functions around Monavoni, simply to be an encouragement and a hopeful, friendly presence wherever we can.
On the Cards
We are in conversation with two local old age homes, hoping to visit regularly, share the word, and spend unhurried time over tea with the residents. It has not started yet, but it is close to our heart and close to happening.
Where We Are Headed
Our vision runs further still. We long to train and equip first responders, counsellors, and carers from within our own church family, ready to step into our community in its hardest moments, the accidents, the crises, the trauma, carrying both practical help and the hope of Christ.
Come and Love Centurion With Us
You do not need a grand plan to make a difference here. You just need to show up with open hands.
